Busing Updates
Route status is updated with ALL delays greater than 15 minutes. 

Parents are responsible for checking the delays/cancellations page for the current bus status.

Parents are also encouraged to tune in to their local Radio Stations during inclement weather mornings for any cancellations to their student's transportation.

Reminder for Thursday March 5 2020
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) and The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) have given notice that their members will participate in a one-day full withdrawal of services on Thursday, March 5, 2020 if a provincial settlement is not reached.
Unless strike notices are withdrawn, The Northwest Catholic District School Board will be closing all schools to students for one day on Thursday, March 5, 2020. As a result, there will be NO busing for students attending the following schools:
• St. Mary School
• Our Lady of the Way School
• St. Patrick School
In addition, the Rainy River District School Board will be closing the following high schools to students in Grades 9-12 ONLY on Thursday, March 5, 2020:
• Atikokan High School
• Rainy River High School
• Fort Frances High School
ALL Rainy River District School Board elementary schools and ALL Grade 7 and 8 Programs within Rainy River District School Board high schools will be open Thursday, March 5, 2020 with busing as regularly scheduled.
Schools will reopen and busing will resume on Friday March 6, 2020.

Train Derailment/Hwy 602 Detour Update 

The Hwy 602 crossing south of Emo remains closed and the opening date remains unknown.

The detour will remain in effect until further notice.

Routes/times remain as previously communicated by the Operator. 

Families will be contacted directly when the detour opens.

Please be advised OECTA has withdrawn their strike notice for Monday February 24th. Therefore all buses will run as regularly scheduled and all Northwest Catholic District School Boards will be open.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2020

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO), The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) and The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Association (OSSTF) have collectively announced they will continue strike action this week with a one-day province-wide walkout (full withdrawal of services) scheduled for Friday February 21, 2020.

Therefore, unless progress is made in negotiations, BOTH The Rainy River District School Board and The Northwest Catholic District School Board schools will be CLOSED to all students in the district on Friday February 21, 2020.

As a result, there will be NO busing for ALL STUDENTS on Friday February 21, 2020.

IN ADDITION

MONDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2020

Please be advised The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) has announced if there is no progress at the bargaining table this week they will participate in rotating strikes beginning next week.

Unless progress is made, The Northwest Catholic District School Board will be closing all schools to students on Monday, February 24, 2020. As a result, there will be NO busing for students attending the following schools:

•             St. Mary School

•             Our Lady of the Way School

•             St. Patrick School

Buses will service Donald Young School on Thursday February 20, 2020
NOTE: Families impacted by the derailment road closures/bus route detours will be contacted directly by the Operator.

All buses servicing Donald Young School are canceled for today. 

Donald Young School is closed to students today. 

A portion of Bus 107 has been canceled - families impacted will be contacted directly by the Operator.
