Based on the Northwestern Health Unit’s assessment of the COVID-19 situation in Fort Frances, it has been determined that schools in the Fort Frances and surrounding areas can return to in-person learning as of Monday (Jan. 25).

That means the following schools will reopen on Monday, January 25, 2021:

· Donald Young School
· Crossroads School
· J.W. Walker School
· Robert Moore School
· Fort Frances High School (Grades 7-12)
· Mine Centre School
· St. Mary School
· Our Lady of the Way School

Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program and the United Native Friendship Centre Alternative Secondary School Program will also reopen.

Please note that new health and safety measures have been put in place, which include mandatory masking for students in Grades 1-3. This masking requirement will be additional to the existing requirement for students in Grades 4-12. Students in Kindergarten will continue to be encouraged but will not be required to wear masks.

Parents/guardians are asked to please ensure to use Ontario’s COVID-19 Online Screening Tool prior to sending your child to school every day.  https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/?fbclid=IwAR26gf46wGCHAwW0sN4S397UWRFfbsY4RzkYiWLv9qQJz1qvQe2duEPgmIw

Do you remember your morning coffee every day? Do you remember to brush your teeth every day?
Well now we have to remember our daily COVID-19 School Screening Tool every day!
The time to make this a part of your daily routine is NOW. The tool should be utilized even while doing distant learning to know the signs & symptoms and make it a part of your daily routine; it’s mandatory, every school day!

Effective today the Ontario Government has mandated new health and safety rules that students in Grades 1-12 will now have to wear a mask/face covering while attending school and riding the school bus. Although not mandatory it is highly recommended that students in JK & SK wear a mask/face covering as well.
